Marie Osmond Divorce
A subject that made headlines in 2007, the Marie Osmond divorce ended
the marriage of Marie and her husband of 20 years, Brian Blosil. This
was her second divorce, as she had previously been married to Stephen
Craig.
Marie Osmond grew up with a family devoted to show business. Her older brother Donny Osmond
was perhaps the most famous in the family, becoming a teen idol in the
70s. While Donny's success was in his pop career, Marie carved out a
niche for herself in country music with hits like "Paper Roses" and
"Who's Sorry Now." Despite hits in the 70s and 80s, Marie's popularity
declined in the 90s, before she returned to the public eye on the show Dancing with the Stars. She appeared on the fifth season of the show, which filmed and aired in 2007.
The
year of 2007 was a stressful year for Marie Osmond. Though she stated
the divorce was amicable and that neither spouse was blamed for it, the
couple had previously separated in 2000. Was the Marie Osmond divorce
truly amicable? Or, had it been a long time coming? Osmond has admitted
to suffering from postpartum depression, and rumors abound that she
attempted suicide in 2006. In addition to the stressful event of the
Marie Osmond divorce being in the news, it was also announced to the
public in 2007 that Marie's son Michael, 16, had entered rehab. The
details of why Michael had entered rehab, however, were not discussed.
Additionally, Marie's father, George Osmond, died that same month.
Despite
Marie Osmond's divorce, she has continued to live her life and is now
enjoying some success as a performer in the variety show Donny & Marie.
The show reunites Marie with her brother Donny, and the two perform for
the show in a number of acts five nights a week. The show can viewed in
the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.
