It was the shock of my life to arrive home after driving seven hours in heavy traffic when my 13 year old daughter runs up to greet me as usual and says I think Mom’s cheating on you. I hear her getting on the phone late at night after everyone’s gone to bed and she is hiding her emails when I get near her. I was completely floored; we had been together for 29 years. She would not be home from work for 30 minutes. I went straight to the computer and broke into her email account. It’s easy to do, just put down you don’t remember your password. They ask you the questions you answered when you opened the account. I knew all of the answers to any question they have on the list unless she would have lied which she did not. Once I was in she made it easy for me. All the love letters were in a separate folder. There were at least 50, I printed and read every one of them. She had been committing adultery for over 4 years with 4 different men. I had never felt so deceived and hurt. She went to church every Sunday so just because someone goes to church does not mean you can put any trust in them. We had 2 homes, one was at the beach. That’s where we were living. We also had two mortgages and a lot of credit card debt. I found a Lawyer and divorced her on adultery. I let her buy me out on the beach house although the bank ended up foreclosing on it 3 years later. We sold the other house. I had to pick up health insurance due to being on her family plan. I did get my daughter out of it along with alimony. It was rough on my daughter going through adolescence. She moved away from the beach and all of her close friends to be with me. In court at that age the Judge will let them decide who they want to live with. We ended up 250 miles from her mother and she did not visit much. My ex remarried and moved 30 miles away because they did not see each other much. They still don’t. I feel like I won the lotto having my Daughter. She is 19 now and in college. She is still daddy’s little girl and I got to watch her grow up and she still lives with me.
