Celebrities and Nasty Divorces

There have been some very nasty divorces in the past and it seems that a good portion of these divorces are in Hollywood or other parts of the world involving celebrities. It is sure that many happen among less well known people but they do not make headlines and are not followed by the media.

One of the Hollywood divorces that was messy and did receive much media attention was Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards. Denise filed for divorce from Charles in 2005 after only three years of marriage and two children. It took a year for the divorce to be finalized and during this time there was plenty of name calling and accusations.

Peter Cook and supermodel Christie Brinkley were married in 1996. They had one child before Brinkley filed for divorce in September 2006. It took this couple almost two years before they would appear in divorce court. During this time there were accusations by each one of them regarding the other. Their court proceedings were then covered by the press and in the end Brinkley had to pay Cook a total of 2 million in 2008. Since that time they have been back to court with each stating the other had violated their settlement.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills were married and produced one child in 2003. By 2006 McCartney filed for divorce from Mills. It took a year and a half before they went to court. It was reported that there were major fights even before the divorce was filed and it only got worse as time went on. In the end Mills didn't recieve as much as she wanted but did walk away with a 50 million settlement.
