Coping with Divorce and Moving On

Getting through a divorce in the best way possible for you is important. You may feel like you are never going to get done feeling sad or angry. There is a grieving process you need to let happen. As you get over the loss of your marriage, remember to recognize what you are good at. Often times people who come through a divorce turn out to be better off because they have learned from the relationship and are able to grow from it.

In any case, don't be afraid to reach out for assistance. If you feel you are seriously depressed, see your doctor and or therapist. Call a friend, join a support group and make a list of some things you always wanted to do and couldn't. Be with people who give you energy and who understand you. You want to be able to talk about how you feel without being judged. Try to recognize what you think you could of done differently and if its time to think about changing the way you do things. Think about how you react to certain situations and was it productive. Decide if you want to change things about your behavior in relationships going forward.

Don't blame yourself for the divorce. Getting to this point in the marriage was a two way street. If you analyze what you think went wrong, there is a good chance you can make a better choice next time. Above all, understand why you chose the person you did to marry. If you can understand why you chose that partner, you will be able to see how maybe it was not the right choice form the beginning and this next time, things can work for you.
