Unfortunately the possibility of going through a divorce is high in today's world. The best thing a person can do is have a plan of action if you know for certain your marital relationship is headed for a divorce. You must stay strong and calm in the event of a divorce. If it is financially possible find a good attorney. There are certain actions that you should consider taking immediately. Find out the value of your house and other assets that you have together. If there is any money in joint savings or checking account withdraw half of it. Make sure to keep copies of the withdrawal receipt as it may be necessary to prove the amount of the withdrawal was indeed half when you go to court for your divorce proceedings.
Other immediate action that needs to be taken is canceling all joint credit cards. In a lot of divorce situations, one or both spouses may be financially strapped for money. Double checking to make sure you have enough money to tide you over until your case settles is important.
