Forgetting About Your Ex

Going through a divorce is hard at times. Sometimes it is hard to forget about the life you had before and the times you spent with your ex. The first step to forgetting is to realize that the sooner you try to go on with your life, the better off you will be.

The object is to get closure so you can start to heal. If it makes you feel better, you should write a letter expressing how hurt you are, then throw the letter away. Try to avoid the places you both went together, since that will only bring back memories. After some time has passed, it will be easier for you to return to these places, but not right away.

Throw away anything that might remind you of your ex, like pictures, gifts, etc. Get in touch with your friends and get involved in activities with them. Use anything as a distraction, like movies, games, and a good book. Enroll in some classes and work hard. Go for a massage, facial, or shopping spree once in awhile. Men should go to a sports game, football, baseball, or whatever they most enjoy.

Put things in perspective. You will soon meet someone else, and perhaps be married, and you will eventually forget this terrible time. It is one of the several bad cycles in your life and you will get through it and eventually everything will be fine.

Whatever you decide to do, as long as you are able to get a few hours of peace, without thinking about your ex, it is a good day.
