Breaking up is very hard to do, no matter what the situation is. The stress that one goes through during a breakup can cause a lot of negative feelings. It can even make you sick, manifesting itself in both physical and mental ways. The great news is that there are ways to help yourself. It is important to have some knowledge and tools to help you forget about your ex and move on with your life.
It is a great idea to have your good friends around. They can comfort you and will try to make you feel better. They will also help you not to be alone and will keep you focused on all the good traits you posses. If you have too much time on your hands, you may tend to become sad and over think the situation unnecessarily. Try doing something you always wanted to do that you never did with your ex. It will bring your spirits up. They say the easiest way to forget about your ex is by meeting someone new.
Last, but not least, are some tips on things you should avoid. The number one rule is "don't have sex with your ex." This will only cause emotional turmoil and may cause your rehabilitation to slow down as well as affect your self-esteem. Don't keep belongings or pictures that will remind you of your ex. Don't call, text or answer the telephone if it is your ex, at least in the beginning when you are trying to get over them. Once enough time has passed, you may be able to have a friendship with your ex once more but it’s important to look forward towards your own future. Just know and believe that it can only get better from here.
