Stay Strong During a Divorce

It is extremely hard to remain strong during a divorce. There are many things you can do to help yourself. For one, you must try to keep a positive attitude. If you have never been the optimist, now is the time to force yourself to learn how. When your mind puts you down or you have negative thoughts, turn them around and make that instance positive. You don't even have to believe yourself at first. If you get in the habit of saying and telling your mind happy and positive thoughts, it will become second nature.

When you get up in a blue mood because of divorce, go to your bathroom mirror and make outlandish smiles and faces. You will soon find yourself laughing, and it is very hard to remain blue once you laugh. While you are looking in the mirror, you need to talk to yourself. You can say things like, "I am a worthwhile person", "I feel strong and able to go on by myself", "I am happy", and "I am capable". These are only suggestions, but any phrases along these lines will help to reinforce your mindset.

It also helps to work out, either at a gym or at home. Do aerobics or lift weights, take a long walk or jog, and do stretching exercises. The physical activity helps to produce good endorphins, which will improve your feelings along with your health. Try to keep this physical activity going on a daily basis.

Finally, you need to be socially active. Don't stay in the house and mope, as this will cause you to have more time to think about what is going on. If you go out and be social, you will push the divorce to the back of your mind and have fun.
