Staying Strong During a Divorce

Divorce is not new. It has been happening at a much faster rate today than ever before. Both men and women are more independent than ever. Many facing divorce must find strength in who they are, and decide that they are doing the right thing to protect themselves and their kids.

One of the first steps you must make is to realize that it is not your fault. Hold your head up, look forward. Do not look to the past. It hurts to have your whole world that you have enjoyed for many years disappear. Remember, you are strong and can create a new, happier life for yourself again.

Do not feel guilty that you are taking your kids away from the other parent. You have to put what is best first. Only you know how to do that. Trust yourself and turn to your friends for help. Life is too important to wallow in a pity party. Your kids will need you now more than ever.

Turn to your kids to help you feel strong. Talk to them so they can understand what is happening. Most times kids know more than you think. No matter what their age, put your kids first. They are the reason you want them to have a better life.

You will want to release all of the negative thoughts you have of yourself and your partner. A support group might help you find positive ways to get rid of the anger you have about yourself and your ex-spouse so you can learn to trust and move on with your life.
